ZAGAT Spotlight Chef Credits Best Year Yet® For Success
Sometimes that small spark of passion, commitment, and a little support is all you need to live your dreams. Such is the case for OWL Bakery's founder Susannah Gebhart in Asheville, NC. A participant in the Western Women's Business Center's Best Year Yet® program, she was recently named one of 15 Badass Female Chefs and Restaurateurs You Need to Know Around the U.S. by ZAGAT.
Her success is especially notable in a field historically dominated by men. After opening her bakery in 2014, it became apparent that she needed help with bookkeeping and finance. She reached out to the Western Women's Business Center and the Carolina Small Business Development Fund for support. In 2017, she was received a scholarship to participate in a Best Year Yet® Raise the Bar program for women entrepreneurs. Sponsored in coordination with the Best Year Yet Foundation and facilitated by Best Year Yet® Partner and experienced business coach Annice Brown, the experience gave Gebhart the extra support she needed to finally get the results she wanted.
